Continuing our easy tips for website content optimisation, this is 2nd part on how to write better SEO contet. High quality, keyword rich and original content is key to getting more search engine traffic to your website so here are 5 more tips on how to make the most out of yours!
6) Your website title.
At the top of your browser will be the title of your website. Make sure this is concise and uses relevant keywords to help describe your website.
7) The “Alt” element.
When putting a picture into your website, you could use the “Alt” element to give your image a brief description. This is good for those using text browsers (as it shows up instead of the picture), but also good for search engines. So, if you’re writing an article about how to bake a cake, don’t just put, alt=”mmmm cake”. Instead, use this opportunity to describe the picture, its position in the content and your website. Alt=”A finished cake made from the easy strawberry cake recipe of the Mr X Patisserie” would be much more SEO friendly.
8) Title element – the return of the title.
When writing a link, you can also specify a title for it, in a similar way to the “alt” tag for images. So, if you were writing a link to the previously mentioned cake recipe, writing, <a href=”cake.html” title=”Link to the easy strawberry cake recipe from the Mr X Patisserie”> would be seen as useful, informative and, more crucially, valuable by search engines.
9) Make your links smart.
Don’t just optimise the title tag for your links; writing “Click here” doesn’t tell the search engine what you’re really linking to. Instead, writing, “Click here for our easy strawberry cake recipe” will keep your links smart and SEO friendly.
10) Be concise.
Don’t waffle!
